Proven exploration techniques used in adjacent permits will be applied in the new license, with the Walloon Coal Measures as the primary target, according to Sunshine.
Company secretary Chris Blamey said Sunshine was currently conducting geological analysis of the area and was identifying targets to be advanced next year.
“The company is currently targeting an equivalent coal section to the south in the Roma joint venture, with very encouraging results to date,” Blamey said.
“Sunshine believes that similar success can be achieved in the new permit.
The nearby Roma Shelf infrastructure was also an advantage, Blamey said.
Sunshine holds a 15% interest in the Roma Shelf project and now has a 100% interest in ATP 795P.
The company has interests in 16 petroleum leases and 13 authorities to prospect for petroleum in Queensland – including awarded permits and applications - covering an area of over 37,000 square kilometres.
