Westech will drill six wells in exploration permits 38612, 38613 and 38617, south of Hamilton, as well as the 100% ECA held permit 38616, south of Auckland.
“ECA and our Westech subsidiary have had success with the exploration and production in New Zealand,” ECA vice president western operations Clark Clement said.
“We’re pleased to continue that success with this new North Island campaign.”
ECA said it has explored several areas of North Island, including Taranaki, and made several critical resource discoveries in Hawke Bay. ECA’s permits on the west coast of New Zealand contain about 875,000 acres.
ECA is a private energy company involved in the exploration, development, production, gathering, aggregation and sale of natural gas and oil, primarily in New Zealand and the Appalachian Basin and Gulf Coast regions of the US.
ECA owns and operates over 5,000 gas and oil wells in the US and three in New Zealand.
