Cyclone forces more closures

According to Reuters, BHP disconnected the floating production vessels from its Stybarrow and Griffin projects yesterday morning and sailed them out of the way of the expected path of category three Nicholas.

Dow Jones reported that Chevron has shut-in production at its Barrow and Thevenard Island operations, which produce about 9000 barrels of oil per day, and evacuated all non-essential personnel.

Nicholas is set to hit Exmouth on the Pilbara coast by 6am tomorrow morning, packing up to 200km per hour winds, according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s website.

Apache has shut-in production of its Stag oil fields since Monday in anticipation of the storm, while Woodside has also shut-in Legendre, Cossack-Pioneer and Enfield.

Santos has stopped production at its Mutineer-Exeter field and AED Oil has disconnected the floating production vessel from its Puffin oil project.
