Power conference to tackle NEM debate

DEVELOPING a national framework for electricity distribution in Australia will be the key issue d...

Thirty-five speakers have been lined up for this year’s event. There will also be seven panel discussions, five roundtable discussions and three masterclasses.

The conference will include presentations by energy company leaders, heads of finance, government officials and regulators, as well as equipment/technology providers and service consultants.

Event organiser and researcher Terrapinn B2B Media said the energy leaders would meet to discuss the removal of impediments towards creating a fully competitive energy market.

“According to an OECD report, regulatory inconsistency arising from the co-existence of state and national regulators in both power and electricity sectors needs to be removed as planned,” Terrapinn said.

“All stakeholders in Australia’s energy sector are hoping to see the Australian Energy Regulator, the Australian Energy Market Commission and the energy industry working together to drive the development of a national framework for retail and distribution regulation.”

The conference will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour.
