Unlike its multi-billion dollar brethren LNG has set a strategy of targeting previously discovered but non-commercial gas reserves and bringing them to potential new energy markets, using small gas plants which will only produce around 100 to 1000 tonnes per day (tpd) of LNG.
LNG takes up 1/600th the volume of natural gas, making it economically viable to transport long distances.
The company has already signed memoranda of intent with power plants in India for around 2700tpd of LNG, and a memorandum of understanding to supply up to 200tpd to GAIL, India's principal gas transmission and marketing company.
Managing director Maurice Brand said LNG Ltd was working to secure 5,000 tpd in sales memoranda of intent by June next year.
