Controversy hits Woodside office tower project

Perth's biggest construction site, which will house Woodside Petroleum after completion, has been...

Sydney-based construction company Baulderstone Hornibrook, who were contracted by Deutsche Asset Management to build the $245 million office tower project, terminated the subcontract of Anderson Formrite, owned by high-flying Perth entrepreneur, Warren Anderson.

"Anderson Formrite has had difficulty performing under the contract and after several unsuccessful efforts to help improve their productivity, we have been forced to take this action," Baulderstone said in a statement.

Mr Anderson said in response to the sacking that he intends taking legal action against Baulderstone for "massive damages".

"There'll be a lot of prosecutions to come out of all this," said Mr Anderson. He attributed the problems to union-controlled selection of labour for his contract hire firm, Workforce One.

Contrary to media reports, Woodside will not own the building, but will become a tenant after completion, which is scheduled for September next year.
