Mitsui builds “the world’s most efficient 1,000 kW gas engine”

Japan’s Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding has announced the development of what the firm calls “the world’s most efficient 1,000 kW gas engine”. Its use of natural gas as its fuel also means it is environmentally friendly.

In a statement the company said, “The engine, which has a power generation efficiency of 42.5%, is designed to be used in private power generation systems in midsize and small buildings such as hospitals or small factories.”

“Natural gas will be used as fuel for the new engine to help minimise toxic emissions,” added the company who also said it has started taking orders for the engine.
