Six face court over Chongqing gas tragedy

The six: Wu Hua, Wu Bin, Xiao Xiansu, Wang Jiandong, Song Tao and Xiang Yiming, have been charged by a special police team for “dereliction of duty”. The accused, according to the police, should be made to bear responsibility for the accident which has already cost former China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) GM Ma Fucai his job.

The hearing, which is expected to last three days, is being held at the No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court of Chongqing.

The natural gas field in Kaixian country, where the well blew out its lethal combination of natural gas and sulphurated hydrogen, was operated by CNPC.
