According to the Arab Times, citing Sheikh Sabah, “[I have] asked Kuwait’s Chamber of Commerce to raise US$250 million in private sector money for the fund, to which the government intends to match the same amount for the projects.”
“Kuwaiti businessmen and financial establishments are keen to raise the money for projects that will come under the first-of-its-kind venture between [the country’s] government and private sector, especially in hydrocarbon investments,” he added without divulging what projects the fund will be investing in.
Sheikh Sabah is current on a four-nation Asian state visit. He is being accompanied by a delegation of businessmen, officials and ministers, which includes Energy Minister Sheikh Ahmed Fahed al-Sabah.
