Boots & Coots put foot on Indian well contract

Global emergency response company, Boots & Coots (B&C), has announced that it has won a two-year SafeGuard contract from India's Oil & Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) to provide onshore and offshore training, inspection and blowout control for the Indian firm's 122 rigs.

The contract is expected to begin in the second quarter of this year but no figures were released as to the value of the contract.

B&C CEO Jerry Winchester was pleased with the contract and feels that this would lead to more opportunities in the region. According to Winchester, "We expect our expanded relationship with ONGC to create additional opportunities for us in Asia."

Under terms of the agreement signed with ONGC, the Houston-based company is to train 30 ONGC staff in Houston in SafeGuard techniques and then send two engineers to provide training at ONGC's six regional centres in India. Of course, all this comes on top of the B&C inspection and suggested implementation of remedial measures for all of ONGC's well control equipment.
