China seen as end market for WA resources

China's emergence as a major industrialised economy and growing influence on global commodity mar...

Accounting for more than 13 per cent of Western Australia's exports, and second only to Japan as the State's largest export market, China's economic growth is reaping huge rewards for Western Australian producers.

China's vast industrial expansion has not only been important for our producers in terms of creating strong demand for our exports, it has also played a large part in driving the recent upswing in commodity prices.

In addition, Prospect highlights Western Australia's vast natural gas resources, and discusses the State's position as a strong contender to supply liquefied natural gas to markets on the west coast of the United States.

Seismic surveying off the States north-west coast, the foundation petrochemical industry on the Burrup Peninsula, and a preview of Australia's biggest wastewater recycling plant at Kwinana are some of the other features in this edition.

Prospect takes a look at the success behind BHP Billiton Petroleum's floating production, storage and off-take vessel, the Griffin Venture, which has been in operation for more than 10 years.

This edition also provides an insight into the development of infrastructure on the Burrup Peninsula, and reports on a cooperative of Jerramungup farmers assessing the potential for a major new integrated industry based on cereal straw pulp, bio diesel, eucalyptus oil and power from bio mass.

Prospect is produced by the Department of Industry and Resources and distributed quarterly to some 10,000 industry executives, investors, explorers, suppliers, financiers and other key stakeholders worldwide. The magazine can be viewed on line at .
