EXPLORATION

After 25 years, offshore Pakistan is up for grabs

The Pakistani Director General for Petroleum Concessions, G.A. Sabri, has revealed that in May, oil and gas exploration off Pakistan's waters would resume following a 25 year hiatus.

Speaking at the second Pakistan Oil, Gas and Energy Conference, Sabri revealed, "Five licences for oil and gas exploration in the sea were issued [and] out of the five oil and gas concessions, one will be awarded to OGDCL."

"Total will invest US$2 billion to US$3 billion in oil and gas exploration projects in Pakistan in the next few years [and for the] first time in Pakistan's history, wells were drilled for oil exploration in Pishin near Afghanistan border area," added Sabri.
