Dubai in SE Asian sights

Malaysian company Kota Minerals and Chemicals (KMC), has plans to expand its operations to the UAE and the rest of the MENA countries. In order to maximise its potential, KMC is planning to set up its GCC hub in Dubai.

Currently, KMC's North Africa hub in Khartoum, Sudan handles all the energy sector-related opportunities for the Gulf States market. However, KMC's general manager, Ho See Chai, believes that the company's expertise in the Malaysian oil and gas sector will allow it to be a player in the Gulf region as well.

According to Ho, KMC has an excellent track record in maintaining 'loss-time-accidents' both in Malaysia and in the other countries where the company operates. He also feels that the company's experience in servicing and supplying contracts in Sudan and Myanmar make it a viable option.

KMC is also looking into setting up a chemical manufacturing facility in one of the Gulf States.
