In a press statement, a SembCorp spokesperson stated, "A detailed investigation with respect to the cause of the leak, which occurred about 80 metres underwater, is being undertaken by ConocoPhillips Indonesia to ensure that such an incident will not occur again."
The 640 km pipeline sprung a leak on 14 November and caused intermittent supply problems for SembCorp and its customers. In fact, two power firms that depend on West Natuna gas, Tuas Power and PowerSeraya, were forced to switch to diesel-fired power generation to make up the shortfall.
