While homes and businesses were not affected by the disruption, the utility companies were. In order to ensure that power generation quotas were met, PowerSeraya and Tuas Power (who account for more than half of the country's electricity generation) were forced to switch to diesel oil-powered generators.
A SembCorp Gas spokesperson said, "the gas supply was being restored, but said the repairs were being handled by [our] Indonesian counterpart." SembCorp owns the 640 km pipeline.
