According to a report in The West Australian newspaper, the Gallop Government has allocated $350,000 for the study. This is in stark contrast to the $136 million to be spent on common user infrastructure in order to attract major gas processing industries to the Burrup.

The Gallop Government appointed the Burrup Rock Art Monitoring Management Committee last year to look at the issue and report within four years. Scientist met with committee members over the weekend to view the rock art and decide how to conduct the study.
