Environmental group snaps up Troy-Ikoda

Leading European environmental consultancy, RPS Group, has acquired the Troy-Ikoda group of companies.

Troy-Ikoda joins RPS Hydrosearch within the RPS Energy Services Division, augmenting the existing geosciences group to form a major provider of independent sub-surface consultancy services. This expanded business will complement RPS Hydrosearch's established strength in operations consultancy allowing it to offer high-quality support across a wide range of disciplines crucial to the petroleum and other industries.

A statement from the two companies said the synergies between RPS Hydrosearch and Troy-Ikoda were compelling. Troy-Ikoda's permanent staff of more than 40 geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers, production engineers and drilling engineers will bring in-depth strength to the core of experienced RPS Hydrosearch geoscience personnel.

Troy-Ikoda adds a wealth of experience in development and appraisal field studies to the already impressive track record that RPS Hydrosearch has in this area. It will also further strengthen the company's ability to offer world-class due diligence and reserves certification to an expanding market for these services.

RPS Energy Services now has access to a unique and wide-ranging mix of skills, that allows the company to undertake integrated geoscience and petroleum engineering projects of any size and complexity for national companies, majors and independents operating anywhere in the world.

Like RPS Hydrosearch, Troy-Ikoda has always had a strong international focus to its business. Whilst the combined company still has a strong involvement in the North Sea, some 70% of its business comes from projects elsewhere in the world. Troy-Ikoda has offices in Windsor, England; Aberdeen, Scotland and Perth, Australia.

These complement RPS Hydrosearch's existing locations in Woking, Aberdeen, Perth and Houston so that RPS Energy Services will offer its unique breadth of services from key centres around the world. The combined company also has joint venture offices in Kazakhstan and Iran as well as agency agreements in the Middle East, South America and the Far East.

RPS Hydrosearch and Troy Ikoda have a wide range of industry standard software applications available in-house. In order to strengthen further this resource, both companies have formed a number of strategic alliances with innovative software and services providers. The combination of industry standard and proprietary software applications provides a powerful resource for RPS Energy Service clients.

RPS Energy Services will continue to build its business during 2004 and aims to become the leading independent technical consultancy serving the global energy market.

As part of RPS Group plc, Europe's leading environmental consultancy, RPS Energy Services can call on a comprehensive suite of environmental and management services that are relevant to projects undertaken by its clients. Its broad sweep of services and financial strength make RPS Group plc a credible partner for companies seeking technical and project management resources from niche services to major fully integrated studies.
