Fire shuts down North Sea FPSO

A MINOR fire aboard Dana Petroleum's Triton floating production, storage and offloading facility in the North Sea has forced a number of workers to be flown back onshore.

Fire shuts down North Sea FPSO

The facility, which is 193km east of Aberdeen, suffered the loss of some platform services, causing the workers to be removed from the facility after smoke and sparks were seen coming from the coupling on an emergency generator.

Dana said the sparks were extinguished immediately with a handheld fire extinguisher.

The platform has been shut down for maintenance, with an investigation into the incident underway.

Dana became the operator of the FPSO last October, with normal operations producing oil and gas from the Bittern, Clapham, Pict Saxon, Guillemot West and North West fields.
