In Colombia, Baraka and operator Omega Energy have started wireline logging on the Mugello-1 exploration well in Chicuaco Block,
Spudded last week, the well has reached 1457.2 metres, with the Carbonera Formation the main target of the well.
Preliminary interpretation of mud log indicates hydrocarbon shows in several sands in the Carbonera Formation.
Mugello-1 has a planned total depth of 1500m.
Baraka said further activities in the well would depend on analysis of wireline logging, mud log and other data.
Internal estimates for the well are between 2-5 million barrels of recoverable oil.
Baraka has a 20% stake in the Chicuaco Block, with partners Omega 63%, Trayectoria Oil and Gas 10% and TC Oil and Services SA 7%.
Meanwhile, Baraka is moving to farm-down its 20% interest in its Mali joint venture, covering Blocks 1,2,3,4 and 9, as it focuses on building a balanced production, development and near-field exploration portfolio in Colombia.
Baraka has a 20% interest in the 5 Mali blocks with Eni Mali 53.33%, and SIPEX 26.67%.
