The green energy revolution is having a knock on effect to other industries such as those in oil and gas.

NM Events' Phil Dickinson said it was important for Australia to be ready for these industry changes.

"Capital Economics has shown that decarbonisation of the world's largest economies could be a game changer for the resources and energy sector. Australia has a key role to play in this transformation, with the potential to generate billions of dollars in national wealth," he said.

Adani Renewables CEO Jennifer Purdie said the conference showed how important the renewable energy sector is for Australia.

"Our solar project in Rugby Run near Moranbah, Queensland, will come online later this year and our second project located in Whyalla in South Australia will be operational from 2019, pending the negotiation of commercial energy agreements," she said.

"Adani Renewables is committed to reaching its goal of 1500 megawatts of renewable power for Australia by 2022."

The two-day conference saw 32 ASX-listed companies discuss topics such as solar power, Queensland's place in the energy mix, and how investors can profit from renewable energy.

Despite the mining focus small cap explorers Armour Energy, Central Petroleum, Triangle Energy, Real Energy, Buru Energy, Norwest Energy and Blue Energy all attended.

Speakers included those from the finance, mining, renewables and government industries.
