Eden said results from a temperature survey on the abandoned Nulla Nulla-1 well and heat flow results from the Chowilla-1 drill hole in Renmark, South Australia, indicate a new province for Australia's rapidly emerging geothermal sector.
The company added the results from the survey at Nulla Nulla-1 and regional geological data from the Murray Basin suggest higher heat flows than at Chowilla-1.
The heat flow value of 51 milliwatts per square metre from Chowilla-1 does not indicate an exploitable heat resource, according to the Eden.
The company now plans to follow up the results with further exploration activity to assess the area for potentially exploitable geothermal resource.
Eden's two SA geothermal licences and the adjacent NSW licence are close to infrastructure and grid powerlines, which enhance the area's commercial potential for geothermal energy if commercial heat sources are identified, the company said.
