Tassie heats up on geothermal results: Kuth

The company said it recorded surface heat flow values of 83-97 milliwatts (mW) per square metre from Temple Bar, Tower Hill and Ben Lomond.

The 97mW/sq.m value is the highest yet recorded from the current geothermal program, the company added.

"These results, together with the four previously reported values of between 92 and 96 milliwatts per square metre, reinforce the conclusion that Kuth's heat flow drilling program is defining a new, significant geothermal province in Australia," Kuth said.

"The magnitude of the heat flows obtained is comparable with those reported from the Cooper Basin, currently Australia's best known geothermal province."

Kuth also said one additional hole at Epping recorded only 62mW/sq.m heat value towards the top, but 92mW/sq.m towards the base, indicating heat removal by water circulation in the middle part of the hole.

To date, Kuth has confirmed strong heat flow from about 1500 square kilometres of the covered area.
