NEXT month Australian wind power company Roaring 40s will open its first wind farm in China.

The 100-megawatt wind farm in Shuangliao in the Jilin province of China is a joint venture between Roaring 40s and Datang Jilin, a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation.

Construction for the first phase began in October 2005 and next month federal Environment Minister Ian Campbell will open the project during a visit to Beijing.

Roaring 40s spokesman Josh Bradshaw told the ABC the company also had plans to expand into the Indian energy market following the recent opening of its office in Mumbai.
