Australia's largest solar power project now online

Solar Systems has overseen the construction of a 192kW farm in the remote Aboriginal community of Hermannsburg, using the company's high efficiency CS500 generators with their distinctive parabolic dish reflectors.

The second and third stages of the project, due to come onstream in the next two months, will see a 240kW installation in the Yuendumu community and a 288kW farm at the Lajamanu community, making the combined farms at 720kW the largest solar project in Australia.

According to Solar Systems manager Russell Harris, the power stations used for the project operate at 24% efficiency, around twice that of most standard flat-panel SPV systems, with the company introducing units with 35% efficiency in the near future.

With the successful operation of this project, Solar Systems is looking towards constructing multiple megawatt SPV projects that could be of great use for remote industrial and commercial infrastructure.
