Seventy five per cent of the investment will come from Rolls Royce, the other 25% from a Singaporean group that includes the city-state’s Economic Development Board, Accuron Technologies and Temasek Holdings.
Rolls Royce Fuel Cell Systems (RRFCS) has been a leading developer of solid oxide fuel cells that produce electricity through an electro-chemical reaction generated by combining fuel and air. The joint venture with the Singaporean group is aimed at fiurthering the technology towards commercial production and deployment.
“Temasek sees strong commercial potential in the solid oxide fuel cell being developed by RRFCS,” said Temasek managing director for strategic development Tan Suan Swee.
