Markets savage world's biggest wind turbine maker

Vestas, the world's biggest manufacturer of wind turbines, lost a third of its market value after...

The Danish company said lack of incentives for renewable energy in the American market had prompted customers to postpone orders.

"Based on the development on the American market, Vestas has reduced the overall expectations for growth from 2002 to 2003 from previously 50% to now approximately 30%," the company said.

As a result of the deterioration in the American market, Vestas said it will now lay off around 533 employees.
