Green energy generator Pacific Hydro is building the $76 million, 52.5MW wind farm, with 35 wind energy generators at Challicum Hills, near Ararat in Victoria.
The zero emission energy generated at the Challicum Hills Wind Farm will be connected to the national energy market via the local distribution network and will be available for purchase through Origin Energy.
The Challicum Hills wind farm is expected to be operational by the middle of next year. It will be Pacific Hydro's second wind farm in Victoria, and the first utilising a supply agreement with leading Danish manufacturer NEG Micon.
Pacific Hydro's wind energy generation capacity will increase further thanks to an announcement by the Federal Government last week that it has approved the Portland Wind Energy Project which will see the development of wind mill manufacturing facilities in regional Victoria.
