Solar supplier sees boost

Kyocera Corp has announced plans to increase its solar cell and module production facilities. This is in response to an increase demand - globally - for solar power generating systems, mainly for home use. As part of this plan, the company will bolster its production facilities in Japan and launch a module production plant in Tianjin, China.

Once this is done, Kyocera will increase its production capacity in phases until it reaches its goal of achieving large-scale production of multicrystalline silicon solar cells and modules to around 120 MW per annum by June 2004.
