Guest of honour is former executive secretary to the United Nations Climate Change Convention, Christiana Figueres. Figueres is one of the master minds behind the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015.
Ms Figueres is keen to be in conversation with senior Western Australian business and government leaders but no-one, so far, has stepped up to the invitation.
Event organiser, Meri Fatin says Figueres would like to be talking with senior representatives from the mining and energy sector and Government to discuss current measures against climate change and working to find a solution.
Fatin says, as a negotiator, now head of Global Optimism and a worldwide venture called Mission 2020 Figueres is in the business of inclusion and progress.
The event will be held this Saturday, March 14, from 11.30am at the University of Western Australia.
It will be moderated by James Lush. Lush has championed a plan for WA to source 100% of its power from renewables by 2030.
The industry representative is encouraged to discuss the important role of gas in the energy transition, the future of oil in a decarbonized world and timeframes industry has committed to.
Five energy industry journalists from separate publications including Energy News will cover the event.
