The In.Site competition was run through the Australian Petroleum Production Exploration Association's Brighter program and aimed to showcase the beauty of remote communities observed by Australian oil and gas workers.
The competition closed in mid-March. For every photograph submitted, APPEA donated $10 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
It was judged by media personality Jules Lund, federal minister for the environment Sussan Ley, and APPEA chief executive Andrew McConville.
Mitsui's geo Roger Xiang submitted work titled ‘Teamwork' which was taken at Beharra Springs at a well site where Mitsui and joint venture partner Beach Energy were working to adjust a well choke.
Xiang started working at AWE as an intern in 2006, and has worked his way up to the position of Senior Geologist.
He said the first time he ever visited a well site he was "struck by the teamwork exhibited by everyone on site."
Phil Woodhouse, a contractor at Spiecapag took out the most prestigious award of ‘overall winner' for his image called ‘Pipes in Space, and Santos employee Jessica Wrigley took out the ‘Environment' category award for ‘Goanna and Tanks.'
Arrow Energy's Grant Schmidt won the ‘Community' category for his image of a local pub and hotel called ‘Western Downs Sunset.'
