The $US2.75 billion GWF2 project is the fourth major gas development for the NWS project in the past seven years following GWF-1, the North Rankin redevelopment and Persephone.
The program is focused on using existing infrastructure to develop reserves from existing and undeveloped NWS fields, and will use the same types of equipment, methodology and approach to contracting to develop these fields to connect the NWS project's existing offshore infrastructure as has been used in recent developments such as the Persephone project.
Persephone is a two-well, 7km subsea tieback from the field to the existing North Rankin complex.
It was approved for development in November 2014 and is targeting start-up in 2018.
The next phase, approved late last year, is the development of the Keast, Dockrell, Sculptor, Rankin, Lady Nora and Pemberton fields using subsea infrastructure and a 35km, 16-inch pipeline connecting to the existing Goodwyn-A platform.
It will be followed, if approved, by the proposed Lambert Deep development, a one-well, subsea tieback to the existing Angel platform.
Woodside says that it is expecting to take a final investment decision for Lambert Deep before mid-year, once front-end engineering and design work are complete.
Consistent with the approach in the Australian Industry Participation Plan "full, fair and reasonable opportunity" will be provided for local industry participation where it is capable and competitive on the basis of health, safety, environment, quality, cost and delivery.
The Chamber and Commercial and Industry, which runs the IndustryConnect portal, says industry representatives can attend this week's briefing to gain a better understanding of the opportunities on the NWS.
Representatives from McDermott and Woodside will be on hand to an insight into the potential opportunities for local industry to become involved in unlocking 1.6 trillion cubic feet of gas, sufficient resources to feed one of the North West Shelf Venture's five LNG trains for a decade.
Gas delivery will initially commence from five wells in the Lady Nora, Pemberton, Sculptor and Rankin fields from 2019, with the remaining three wells in the Keast and Dockrell fields expected in the first half of 2020.
Woodside operates the NWSV for BHP Billiton, BP, Chevron Corporation, Japan Australia LNG and Shell.
The breakfast will be held at the CCI Function Centre in East Perth on March 10.
