Texon gets best result yet

TEXON Petroleum has flowed 1.49 million cubic feet of gas from its Avoca-1 well onshore South Texas during a production test of the lower of two gas bearing formations.

The company said the test, which has highest flow rate by a well in its 2008 South Texas shallow gas program, also produced 30 barrels of oil per day from the 8m interval.

Surface production facilities are now in place and Texon plans to construct a pipeline within the next few months to connect the well for gas sales from this zone.

Avoca-1 targeted a deeper formation than the previous three recent Texon discoveries.

Texon has a 96.67% working interest in the well.

The earlier Yamba-1, Stradbroke-1 and Bilinga-1 wells had flowed 507,000 cubic feet, 765,000 cubic feet and 400,000 cubic feet of gas per day respectively during production testing and were completed as future producers.
