Burleson reels in Marlin

ONSHORE Texas explorer Burleson Energy is about to bring its fourth consecutive well on production at the Champions Area of Grimes County.

Burleson reels in Marlin

The company said the Marlin-1 well would join the YPU-1, Rocket-2 and Jet-3 wells as a gas producer.

Last month, Burleson increased its stake in the Marlin-1 well to a working interest of 29.7% and net revenue interest of 23%.

Spudded on New Years Day, the well was drilled to a total depth of 19.696 feet - including 5090ft of horizontal section through the Austin Chalk reservoir.

Looking ahead, Burleson hopes to take advantage of high oil prices, by drilling and working over wells that have oil/condensate and gas potential, rather than just gas.

"Thus activity will move for a period to the Burleson County and away from the Champions area," the company said.

"A drilling plan is being formulated and a smaller rig is being sourced for this work. Champions area drilling is expected to recommence later in the year."
