Production in the last six months of calendar 2007 reached 4.79 million barrels of oil equivalent, with a further 492,000 barrels of Tui field crude oil held in inventory.

The strong production rate drove sales revenue 344% higher to a record $308.7

million, up from $69.6 million a year earlier.

AWE said the cashflow from operations had resulted in a strong balance sheet and zero debt subsequent to the end of the year.

The Tui area oil project started producing oil in July and produced 6.34MMbbl, of which AWE's share was 2.69MMbbl, in the half-year.

In the current half-year, AWE said it expected to produce more than 2MMbbl of oil from Tui, where proved and probable (2P) reserves were upgraded 50% late last year to 41.7MMbbl.
