The vessel disconnected from the 10,600 barrel per day project on Sunday, December 30 as Cyclone Melanie approached and has been awaiting calmer weather conditions before reconnecting.
Now that the vessel is reconnected, BHP plans to restart oil production, which will be progressively ramped-up to normal rates.
Partnering BHP (45%) in Griffin is ExxonMobil with 35% and Inpex Holdings with 20%.
Griffin is the last northwest Australian project to come back online in the wake of Cyclone Melanie, which swept through the region at the end of last year.
