Junior Jingemia partner Victoria Petroleum said the latest development well had encountered good oil shows in the Dongara Sandstone over a 31m interval.
Yesterday afternoon, Origin was drilling Jingemia-11 ahead at a depth of 2528m.
VicPet managing director John Kopcheff said the completion of Jingemia-11 as a production well would increase field reserves and boost production at the field from 3200 barrels of oil per day to 5000bopd.
“Based on the seismic 3D mapping and production history, the Jingemia oil field is interpreted to have the potential to contain up to 4.6 million barrels of recoverable oil,” Kopcheff said.
Jingemia-11 is being drilled as a directional well to intersect the oil-bearing Dongara Sandstone in a crestal location updip from and 140m to the east of the Jingemia-4 intersection.
Stakeholders in Jingemia are Origin (operator with 49.189%), Arc (33.141%), Voyager (11%), VicPet (5%) Norwest (1.278%), Roc Oil (0.25%) and JK Geary (0.142%).
As well as being a Jingemia partner, Arc is also the operator of the Eremia oil field, which it holds in equal partnership with Origin.
In a statement yesterday, Arc said the Eremia-7 appraisal well flowed 1553bopd on test through a 40/64 inch choke and a well-head pressure of 175psi.
After Arc evaluates its long-term flow potential by testing different choke sizes, Eremia-7 is planned to be connected to the Hovea production facility.
“The reported test rate … is in accordance with the performance of the other wells in the field and Eremia-7 will add significant additional production capacity,” Arc managing director Eric Streitberg said.
