Basker-Manta not there yet

COMMISSIONING of the Gippsland Basin Basker-Manta project has now produced about 90,000 barrels of oil, though full production is yet to be achieved.

Basker-Manta not there yet

Operator Anzon Australia today said since commissioning commenced on December 17, uninterrupted production of about 6000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) had flowed from the Manta-2A, Basker-2, and five wells, with gas injection, as planned, into Basker-4.

Sydney-headquartered Anzon executive director Andrew Young said full production rates had not yet been achieved because the gas injection compressor (a 7500HP gas turbine-driven centrifugal compressor) was undergoing balancing and tuning as required of any new installation.

This finetuning was expected to continue until the coming weekend.

Once finetuning was completed, full production rates of up to 25,000bopd, with associated gas injection into Basker-4 of up to 35 million cubic feet per day, was forecast.

The participants in the Basker-Manta joint venture are operator Anzon Australia (50%) and Beach Petroleum (50%).
