These clean-up flows were achieved through a one-inch choke with a wellhead flowing pressure of 148psi.
As a permanent flow line has been installed, Origin said the well was now being commissioned as a successful development well for tie-back to the Jingemia oil production facility.
Exploration and production general manager Paul Zealand said this was an “excellent initial result” for the start of its Perth Basin drilling program.
Joint venture partner Victoria Petroleum tipped production levels at the field would rise to about 4500bopd.
“Based on the seismic 3D mapping and production history, the Jingemia oil field is interpreted to have the potential to contain in the range of 4-8 million barrels of recoverable oil, subject to further development drilling,” VicPet managing director John Kopcheff said.
Earlier this month, VicPet announced that logging results suggested the well had discovered a new oil reservoir in the Dongara Sandstone at a depth of 2482-2509m – about 30m above the Jingemia oil field original oil-water contact.
Jingemia-8 is located about 23km south of the township of Dongara and 90m south of the discovery well.
Partners in the Jingemia oil field (L14) and Jingemia-8 are Origin Energy Developments (operator with a 49.189% stake), ARC Energy (44.141%), Victoria Petroleum Offshore (5%), Norwest Energy (1.278%), Roc Oil (0.25%) and J.K. Geary (0.142%).
