Flows from Berwyndale South-41 were now said to have stabilised around 1MMcf/d.
“This is the 10th well at Berwyndale South to produce gas flows above a million cubic feet on a daily basis; and of these 10 wells, nine do not require pumping,” the company said in a market release.
The company added that as de-watering progresses is expects the number of free flowing wells to increase – resulting in substantial savings in initial capital costs, operational costs and fuel gas.
QGC said its two standout performers are currently Berwyndale South-9 and 60, which are producing weekly averages in excess of 2.7MMcf/d.
QGC managing director Richard Cottee said the performance of the Berwyndale South-41 well highlighted the consistency and reliability of the Berwyndale field, which has produced and sold gas at rates of around 6 petajoules per annum.
“This performance is consistent with our view that the Undulla Nose hosts a world-class coal seam gas reserve that will benefit QGC through the development of the Argyle and Lauren Gas Fields as well as Berwyndale South,” Cottee said.
The Berwyndale South Gas Field began supplying commercial quantities of gas to CS Energy in May.
Last month, QGC announced that gas supplies to the Braemar Power Station had commenced three months ahead of schedule.
Under the Braemar contract, QGC, which holds a 90% stake in the gas field, and partner Sentinent (10%) have committed to long-term gas sales of 2PJpa from October 1 and a further 2PJpa from December 1.
