Roc expects field production rates to ramp up to more than 10,000 barrels of oil per day as the four other designated oil producers, including three horizontal wells, are brought on-stream over the next several weeks.
Yesterday, the CH-12H well, the second well to come online in the field, was producing about 6800 bopd.
First production started earlier this month from the near vertical well CH-6 at 1000 bopd. This well has now been temporarily shut-in while repairs take place on the electric submersible pump.
The oil produced at Cliff Head is being transported via a 14km pipeline to the onshore Arrowsmith Stabilisation Plant, from where it is trucked to the new BP Crude Oil Unloading Facility at Kwinana.
The first export of Cliff Head crude oil from the Arrowsmith Stabilisation Plant was delivered to the BP Kwinana Unloading Facility on Friday, May 5.
The Cliff Head development comprises an offshore, unmanned wellhead platform located about 10km offshore in 18m of water. The development includes six production wells and two water injectors.
Proved and probable (2P) oil reserves in the field are estimated at 14.8 million bbl.
In its first year, Cliff Head oil production is expected to account for 10% of WA’s oil consumption, according to AWE and Roc.
Cliff Head partners and their associated equities are Roc, which holds a 37.5% stake, AWE Oil (27.5%), Wandoo Petroleum, a Mitsui subsidiary (24%), Arc Energy (6%) and CIECO Exploration and Production (5%).
