These wells are adjacent to the Kenilworth Railroad-1 and Railroad-2 wells, which were completed in January and February, and tested over 1.3 and 1.1 million cubic feet of gas per day, respectively, from the Ferron sands and coals. These rates are about three to four times the average for the area, the partners said.
Marion and Odyssey said similar results and flow rates are expected from the Cordingly Canyon and Ball Park wells.
Completion and testing operations on the three new wells are expected to be concluded by the end of the current quarter, with gas sales through tie-in to local third-party infrastructure occurring immediately after.
Marion Energy chief executive Jeff Clarke said the results in both projects had significantly exceeded expectations.
“Particularly, the production test of the Clear Creek Utah Fuel-2 well restoration at over 1.5 million cubic feet per day was extremely encouraging, given that the well had already produced 11.9 billion cubic feet in the 1950s and 1960s,” he said.
In February, Marion announced it would undertake an accelerated drilling program based on positive drilling results in both the Clear Creek and Helper projects, with drilling of the first wells to begin this quarter.
