Sinopec chooses Invensys for major upgrade

Invensys will supply its new Foxboro I/A Series automation systems and a range of professional services to help Sinopec meet growing domestic demand by raising production capacity and new systems for processing crude oil imported from the Middle East, which has a high sodium content.

The I/A Series automation systems will be used to control new and expanded units for crude distillation, hydrocracking, hydrogen generation, kero hydrogenation, hydrogen refining, and various tank farm facilities.

Invensys Process Systems China will provide engineering and implementation services and training for plant engineering, technical and operating personnel.

Invensys has a ten-year relationship with Sinopec and its subsidiaries. When the new automation project is completed, Invensys will be supplying the largest share of automation at the Guangzhou complex.
