Yokogawa world-first in safety

The ProSafe-RS safety system also meets the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61508 standards and the process-specific IEC 61511 standards, which ensure compliance for the system’s entire lifecycle, through design, installation, use, maintenance, modification and decommissioning.

A safety system meeting the IEC 61511 standard, published in 2004, constantly monitors the status of oil, natural gas, petrochemical and other process applications, and ensures safety by shutting down a plant if any condition is detected that exceeds a pre-set threshold.

Additionally, the ProSafe-RS safety system also achieved compliance with the IEC 61511 standard for process automation, extending the system’s potential applications, in keeping with Yokogawa’s commitment to becoming a world leader in the industrial automation market by 2010.

As reported in AIN last week, the ProSafe-RS safety system can be fully integrated with Yokogawa’s Centum production control system.
