The request apparently occurred during a meeting between Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and BP CEO Lord Browne last week.

At the core of the matter, it is understood, is bureaucratic red tape which has caused the stoppage of construction of an LNG terminal at the project. BP needs for the bureaucratic setbacks to be resolved before further construction of the Tangguh plant can be resumed.
