Russia’s Russian Railroads had announced on 21 October Yukos would be resuming oil supplies to PetroChina affiliate China National Petroleum Corp.

According to Platts, citing an anonymous PetroChina source, “We’ve also heard reports of Yukos resuming crude exports by rail to China. Yet the news came from a Russian Railways official, and we have yet to receive any confirmation from Yukos on the supply resumption.”

“In fact, we’re also trying to verify the report with Yukos,” added the insider.

Yukos suspended crude exports to PetroChina on 28 October after it was unable to settle its rail transport tariffs on the Chinese route. For 2004, Yukos was due to supply 3.86 million metric tonnes of crude and has already exported 2.84 million metric tonnes.
