Crude still flows to Turkey despite attack

Reports from various agencies indicate Iraq is still pumping crude to the Turkish port of Ceyhan ...

According to the various sources, citing an anonymous NOC Engineer, “Pumping resumed at midnight on a spare line to Ceyhan. This is a first step immediately after we successfully put out the fire ignited by saboteurs on September 2.”

“The pumping rate is down to 250,000 barrels of a day from a normal average of 400,000 barrels. By the end of the year, the company is expecting production to be stabilised at 800,000 bpd. But this depends on whether sabotage will continue, and on the reconstruction and maintenance efforts,” added the informant.

The northern pipeline was ablaze for several days, which halted export through the mainline, and repair work is also on hold following another attack on it on 6 September.
