Interoil refinery offloads first cargo

“We are extremely excited about the completion of this milestone of export sales,” said

Phil Mulacek, CEO of InterOil. “Domestic and export sales will continue through the remainder of commissioning activities.”

The refinery has a name-plate capacity of 32,500 barrels per day and has been engineered to process "sweet" crude, low in sulphur, requiring few environmental costs in the refining process.

InterOil is building a vertically integrated energy company whose primary focus is Papua

New Guinea and the surrounding region with assets including the oil refinery, upstream petroleum exploration licenses, and retail and commercial distribution assets.

The majority of the refined products from InterOil’s refinery are secured by off-take contracts with Shell and InterOil’s wholly owned subsidiary, InterOil Products Limited.
