Analyst: Al-Qaeda could push oil prices to US$60 per barrel

Energy analyst Paul Michael Wihbey, President of Global Water and Energy Strategy Team, has warne...

In an interview with the WorldTribune.com, Wihbey said, “Al-Qaeda already driven the price of oil to beyond US$40 a barrel [and] the Muslim militant group could seek to drive the price to US$60 a barrel by attacking the Saudi oil infrastructure. A US$60 per barrel price would result in a US$3 per gallon pump price.”

“Al-Qaeda has followed the Communist example [of eroding] the authority of the Saudi royal family. Al-Qaeda has already shattered the image of the kingdom as a bedrock of stability and forced the departure of skilled foreigners in the energy sector,” he added.
