With two projects in the Czech portion of the Vienna Basin (Breclav and Morava) it is going to be a busy time for Carpathian Resources. The Breclav Licence contains a number of leads and prospects, which was investigated by the Postorna-1 well.
Late last year the well intersected an 11m oil column from 1450m with oil flowing oil at the equivalent of 16.8 cu.m per day. Carpathian said during the first half of the quarter equipment for production testing was sent to the site of the well.
Last month, one of the partners in the joint venture, Czech Oil Company (COC), decided it would no longer co-operate in activities in the Breclav Licence, including the development of Postorna-1 well. In response action has been initiated by Geocan Energy, Unigeo AS and Carpathian - partners in the joint venture - to ensure their rights are not prejudiced by the refusal of COC to co-operate, Carpathian said.
As for the Morava project, which comprises of three exploration licences covering 271 sq.km in the northern section of the Vienna Basin, Carpathian said a comprehensive evaluation of the prospectivity of the area was carried out. Results of the study are yet to be analysed however selection of leads for further assessment should be completed during the coming quarter, the company said.
Work continued on the Roznov project with Carpathian refining leads based on seismic acquired last quarter. The company said it believes there were 655 billion cubic feet of ultimate gas reserves in this large prospect area.
The gas well NT4 in the Komorni Lhotka Production Licence has been delayed due to "extraordinary" maintenance. A local gas company increased the pressure in its gas system, which was in excess of NT4 well head pressure with the result that production was impossible. With pipeline pressure back to normal, Carpathian envisages NT4 3 will commence production this month.
Drilling of the gas well NP558a in Production Licence Roznov 1 has been delayed to the objections of an absentee landlord who lives in Prague but owns adjacent property. The matter is being handled by the relevant Czech authorities, Carpathian said.
