The Perth-based company said the operations comprised the hydraulic fracturing of the WB-N2 and WB-N3 producing oil wells in a staged manner. The fracturing of WB-N2 involved pumping 295 barrels of diesel-based frac fluid and 36,000 pounds of 120 mesh sand proppant at concentrations up to eight pounds per gallon with surface pressure of up to 2,600 psi.
As for WB-N3, 224 barrels of the frac fluid were pumped together with 26,000 pounds of 120 mesh sand proppant at concentrations up to eight pounds per gallon and surface pressure of up to 2,500 psi.
Carnarvon said the two wells will brought back into production over the next few days and the results from the fracs are expected by next week once the wells have been tested. "Carnarvon anticipates considerable improvement in production rates for the two wells and will provide an update as soon as possible," the company said.
Carnarvon also said that the second part of the 'Phase Two Development' consists of drilling three development wells using Shell's drilling contractor in early October. Carnarvon said it anticipates drilling will take about two to three weeks with the new wells being brought into production about 10 days after.
Carnarvon owns 40% of the Wichian Buri Oil Field and the entire SW1A Concession in which it is located. Carnarvon's joint venture partner in SW1A is Pacific Tiger Energy Inc.
